Our Polish Concrete Process

Precision and Expertise at Every Stage

Achieving a flawless diamond-polished concrete floor is a comprehensive process that demands precision and expertise. Our skilled technicians follow a meticulous procedure involving numerous distinct grinding steps.

* Initial Grinding: We begin with coarse 30/60-grit diamond abrasives, strategically removing imperfections and leveling the concrete surface.

* Progressive Refinement: The grinding process continues with progressively finer diamond grit sizes, typically doubling with each pass (e.g., moving from 60 to 120 grit). These diamonds are embedded within durable metal or resin-bonded segments, ensuring efficient and consistent material removal.

* Polishing Phase: Once the initial grinding is complete, we transition to resin-bonded diamond pads, starting with a 50-grit pad and moving through increasingly finer grits (e.g., 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500, and even 3000 grit). The final grit selection depends on the desired level of shine.

* Densification and Hardening: Throughout the grinding and polishing stages, we apply a high-quality densifier/hardener. This crucial step penetrates the concrete surface, chemically reacting to increase its density and strength, making it significantly more durable and polishable. We utilise a range of premium densifiers/hardeners.

* Grouting and Repair: Any holes, cracks, or imperfections revealed during the initial coarse grinding are meticulously filled using a specialised grouting compound, ensuring a seamless and uniform surface.

* Protective Sealing: To provide long-lasting protection against stains and spills, we apply a natural-look impregnating polish guard. This advanced solution penetrates 2–5mm into the concrete pores, creating a breathable repellent barrier.

Tailoring Your Floor to Your Vision

The diamond-polished concrete floor process offers a wide range of aesthetic possibilities, allowing you to create a truly unique and personalized space:

Aggregate Exposure Levels:

* Salt & Pepper Exposure: A minimal exposure of fine aggregates, creating a subtle and consistent speckled appearance.

* Medium Aggregate Exposure: A moderate exposure of larger aggregates, providing a more textured and visually interesting surface.

* Full Aggregate Exposure: The maximum exposure of aggregates, showcasing the natural beauty and variation within the concrete mix.

Gloss Levels:

* Matte Finish: A non-reflective, natural-looking surface.

* Satin Finish: A low-sheen finish that offers a subtle hint of reflectivity.

* Gloss Finish: A medium-to-high sheen that reflects light, creating a brighter and more polished appearance.

* High Gloss Finish: A highly reflective, mirror-like surface that exudes sophistication.

At Bluestone Concrete Floor, we understand that every project is unique. We are happy to provide expert consultation and discuss these options in detail to help you select the perfect combination of exposure and gloss levels to best suit your aesthetic preferences, project requirements, and budget.

The Foundation of Beauty and Durability

Bluestone Polish Concrete Floor has innovative and sophisticated flooring systems that involve meticulous multi-step processes. We mechanically grind your existing or new concrete floor to achieve a smooth, flat, and consistently even surface. Following the grinding phase, we utilise progressively finer bonded abrasives to polish the concrete, systematically cutting and refining the surface. This allows us to achieve a range of desired aesthetics, from a subtle, minimal exposure to a more pronounced, full aggregate finish.
